The Land Rover Defender, in 90, 110 and 130 guise, remains one of the most respected vehicles in the off-roading world. Built with a strong ladder chassis and a permanent four-wheel-drive drivetrain, the Defender uses a two-speed transfer box that allows drivers to select low-range gearing for challenging terrain. Solid axles and coil-spring suspension provide excellent wheel articulation, helping maintain traction on mud, rocks, and uneven ground. Most classic Defenders run 16-inch wheels with tall-profile tyres such as 235/85 R16, which allow lower tyre pressures for improved grip and durability off-road.

Nowadays, the Defender continues to be hugely popular in the 4x4 off-roading world, thanks to its simple engineering, reliability, and ability to run aggressive all-terrain and mud-terrain tyres, making it a favourite for off-road enthusiasts and expedition drivers.
