PCD or Pitch Circle Diameter is the diameter of an imaginary circle that passes through the centre of all the wheel bolts (stud holes).
For example:
A wheel marked as 5x120 means:
- 5 bolt holes
- A PCD of 120mm
How to Measure PCD on Your 4x4, Pickup or Van
Depending on the number of bolt holes, the method slightly differs. Here's how to do it:
For 4-Stud or 6-Stud Wheels (Even Number)
- Measure from the centre of one bolt hole to the centre of the one directly opposite.
- That’s your PCD.
For 5-Stud Wheels (Odd Number)
- Measure from the centre of one bolt to the outer edge of the bolt hole furthest away (not centre to centre).
- Use a PCD calculator or conversion chart to get an accurate diameter.
Top Tip: If you're unsure, take the wheel off and measure with a ruler or vernier caliper for better accuracy.
